Gastão Lamounier Lamounier Gaston (Gaston Lamounier Marques), composer, was born in Sao Paulo SP, and died on 22.04.1893 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 28/01/1984. At age five he moved with his family to Rio de Janeiro RJ, studied at the College of the Marist Brothers and Alfredo Gomes, after attending the School of Law and graduated in 1919.
He practiced law until 1926, being appointed by the government commodity broker. He began piano studies with Professor Pizzarrone, perfecting himself with the widow of Alberto Nepomuceno, yet always played by ear.
In the 1910s spent a long time in Switzerland, where he met Franz Lehár (1870-1948) and composed a xótis, Mimi, in homage to his teacher. He entered radio in 1929, invited by Albenzio Perrone, singer of great success, what would be the greatest interpreter of his songs. Since then and for over ten years, he was artistic director of Radio Educator, having created the Program Lamounier they went through the great idols of the time, and the first children's program of Brazilian radio.
Leaving the Educator, the program Lamounier traveled several stations, to settle at Radio Nacional, Rio de Janeiro in 1945. Also in 1929 he composed the tangos Waiver and Repentance (with lyrics by Olegario Mariano), the latter being his first album recorded with great success by Gaston in Parlophon Formenti, for 1929-1930, reissued three years later by Orquestra Guanabara etiquette Odeon.
In 1935, he composed waltzes There is a secret in your hair (with Osvaldo Santiago) and only two of us (with Anwar George), played by Silvio Caldas disk Odeon. From 1937 is the waltz and the fate defoliation (with Mario Rossi), recorded by Carlos Gallardo (Odeon), and Suave love poem (with Mario Rossi), sung by Albenzio Perrone (Odeon), which will launch by Victor in the year Next, Apotheosis of stars and of love for my love, the two compounds.
In his career, stands out even the waltz Our Lady of Light, made to raise funds for the Convent of Light in Sao Paulo, and sang in public when it was restored. In 1972 the singer of the Young Guard Paulo Sergio revived in modern rhythm, and the fate defoliation, while the maestro Orlando Silveira and pianist Mário de Azevedo recorded music with their LPs. In later life moved away from the piano due to Parkinson's disease and went on to compose religious music.
